Campaign Story

Kreider Services is raising money for Operation SandBag, which would allow us to purchase industrial sewing machines and related equipment for the production of sandbags. Your donation to Operation Sandbag will make an impact in the lives of persons with disabilities and help folks reach their fullest potential! Operation SandBag will employ persons with disabilities, while creating sandbags that can be used during seasons of flooding here in the Midwest, and hopefully across the United States in the near future. Help us meet our goal!

Kreider Services has a production facility in northern Illinois that hires adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The current environment in providing services and job opportunities for persons with disabilities in Illinois has been challenging. Human service agencies have had to adjust with this changing environment. Kreider Services is asking for you to help and make a difference in the lives of persons with disabilities.

Partners in this project involve a supply company, Kreider Services, local and state representatives and Sauk Valley Community College Small Business Development division. The plan is that sandbags produced by client workers of Kreider Services will be sold to municipal, county and state government agencies.

Founded in 1952 by a group of concern parents and guardians, Kreider Services is in its 65th year of operation, serving over 600 people each year. In addition to its Day Services and Production areas, Kreider Services has nearly two dozen residential group homes as well as a children’s developmental center (Florissa), which serves children (0-18 years of age).
